This wiring was discovered in a loft when we were carrying a landlords electrical safety check. The tenant had carried out a alteration on the existing installation using tape and connectors.
This has since been removed and the installation correctly installed.

This connection was also found in a loft space (electricians love fibreglass), it started out with good intentions on this bit of electrical work until the installer could'nt find a intact joint box so the dreaded tape has come out to hold it all together. I think you would agree a very messy installation.

The image here is of a 240V recessed down lighter, the cable feeding it is of the wrong type and the installer had a wire left over so stripped it back and taped it over. Also the actual part the cable is wired in to should be fixed to the down lighter. This was a DIY job which was really a bridge to far for the person who carried it out as they have produced a unsafe installation.
